Default What is the correct fluid for the power steering?

I am going through all of the fluids in my 2002 C5 Coupe with manual transmission. What is a good replacement for the power steering fluid? Some people say synthetic ATF, others say only GM PS fluid. What is the correct replacement?

I'd just go to the dealer and buy some GM PS fluid. It's not very expensive, and then you don't have to worry about what's ok and what's not ok.

Hi, this is what I have in my notes for my FRC...Valvoline Synpower-Power Steering Fluid meets the GM specs listed in my manual. GM part number on the bottle (GM 1050017). Gee

All the fluids are in the Owners manual Page 7-19

GM Power Steering Fluid (GM Part No. 1052884 - 1 pint, 1050017 - 1 quart, or equivalent).

Redline also has a product that is equivalent to the GM part for our C5 power steering fluid: http://www.redlineoil.com/pdf/8.pdf
