Default engine cradle

Quick question. Is the engine cradle on an 02 vette made of aluminum or magnesium? Will make a big difference if I try to have it welded.

I don't think GM started using the Magnesium engine cradle until 2006 in the Z06. If you have a C5, I'm 99.9% sure it's cast aluminum.

By the way, how in the world did you crack the engine cradle?

It is Aluminum on every C5 .... you're correct .... the 2006 (and later) Z06 have a Magnesium engine cradle.
