Default questions about FAST 90mm intake/tb install

Does the MAP sensor need to be relocated to the front of the intake where the provision is located for the EGR hook up in older F Body's or can you just hook the sensor back up as it was installed on the LS6 intake manifold? Im asking based on the write up at the top of this section where they used a relocation harness to install the sensor at the front of the manifold. What's the purpose?

Thanks

I think that MAP sensor relocation is optional.

No idea on the throttle body bolts.

MAP sensor relocation is not required, but I highly recommend it, the seal from the MAP sensor has a less than stellar fit in the FAST intake, can potentially rub the firewall and can be rather difficult to hook up. Below are pics of my relocated MAP.

Where did you get the map sensor relocation kit and extension harness and how much was it?

What do you use to plug the old hole for the sensor on the back of the manifold??

That manafold looks EXCELLENT! How did you get that carbon fiber look????

Bill,

The MAP sensor relocation kit came from Lingenfelter at a price of $66.95, Link below. Once you see the picture on their website you will know right away which part is used to plug the original MAP Sensor hole, it doesn't show it in the picture but the extension harness comes with the kit. Also the kit is listed for an LS2 but works just as well on a LS1/LS6 powerplant.

Thanks to AlohaC5 for the link

The carbon fiber look is courtesy of Tony at MPH Motorsports he did a GP here on the forum only 5 people took him up on it, obviously I was one of them, and very pleased that I did.

good info. Besides being a pain in the *** to hook back up, are there any performance issues with reinstalling it in the original location? Mine fits as well as it did in the stock LS6 manifold and Id prefer to avoid the additional 70 dollar expense if able.

Some have had issues with the MAP hitting the cowl under acceleration. I used a 90 degree elbow and moved mine over to the side. It isn't as pretty as the LPE but it works OK.

Just a tip. There is a very small vacuum line that attaches to the back of the manifold. Extend it by 8" before you put the manifold back on. You'll thank me later.

I extended mine and actually added a couple of 90 degree elbows while I was at it. Now it drops right into position where the rear vacuum port is on the intake. Just make sure when you fit things up, you have all the stuff removed in place first. I posted a thread a while back on how I did things if you are interested. My MAP movement is ugly beyond sin, but it works well.

I may pull the intake next winter for some custom paint work, when I do I am considering the LPE installation in the front since it is a very professional and clean installation.

I simply tapped the MAP sensor hole with a thread by barb fitting and attached a 4" of vaccum hose to the MAP. I looked at that front relocation from other companys and did not like it.

I think I remember someone having an issue with the bolts on the valve valley cover being too tall and breaking the FAST 90 intake when it was bolted down. Is this really an issue and if so,,,,what is the fix??

Thanks in advance.

The FAST intake comes with button head allen bolts to replace the stock valley pan bolts.

You can also go to Lowes for the valley cover bolts. Its just a short M8x1.25 bolt
