Default Aftermarket Crank Damper Increases HP?

Has anybody tried an aftermarket crank damper? I am planning cam & head mods and was thinking of doing an underdrive mod at the same time. While I was looking into this subject I took a look at several damper web sites. They claim up to 45 hp increases with 12 to 30 hp being common at 7500 rpm! Shouldn’t we be buying these things by the dozens? Has anyone experienced this kind of increase?

I understand that the LPE, ASA LS1’s use ATI dampers but I thought this was only to keep the cranks from breaking. These dampers are a little lighter which would help the dyno numbers. The only thing I can think of that would increase output would be reducing the losses due to repetitive twisting of the crank. There must be a whole lot of twisting going on!

Thanks for your thoughts,
Steve

How would the dampner work with an aftermarket ASP crank pulley?

It would be in place of the ASP pulley. Most of the aftermarket pulley deals ignore the harmonic dampening question.
