01 zo6 tranny grinds into third
my transmission just started to grind into 3rd pretty much every time I shift it. Any ideas? Could it just need some fluid?
Thanks

How many miles on it? I found that tranmission fluid should be changed every 50,000 miles.
I had grinding going into 6th at about 100,000 miles after running Mobil 1 for 50,000 miles. Fixed it by changing to Amsoil ATD, BUT mine is a 1998 with paper blocker rings and Mobil 1 is not recommended. Your 2001 has carbon fiber blocker rings, so you can use any synthetic fluid.
I would change it out to a synthetic fluid. It will take less than 4 quarts. It is easy to do (use a large drain pan). These transmissions are sensitive to dirty fluid.

cool, I'll give that a try.
The car has a little over 60k on it, and I am not to possative if they fluid has ever been changed on the tranny or clutch.

My car had the same issue develop and it turned out to be a bent aluminum shift fork which caused the 3rd and 4th gear synchros to go out. There's a GM TechLink article which includes the issue you're seeing. Read the following webpage, specifically the "other conditions" section: http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...+Stuck+in+Gear. If it hadn't been for GM warranty I'd have been out $2800 in stealership repair work!
I'm guessing yours is way out of warranty, which means you should contact Rodney at RPM transmissions to discuss your options.

I'm about to change the fluid in my trans, (98 M6).. I'm confused about what I'm reading on here.. Most people recommend the Amsoil ATD - but it's synthetic (?), and I thought I couldn't use synthetic in a 98 trans...? And, is D4ATF the same thing?
Sorry for noobness, I'm a noob... lol
