Default A4 front pump seal

If installing a yank ss3600 converter this weekend. For those of you who have installed the converter did you also replace the front pump seal? I have the seal but I don't really have the tools to remove it and I don't want to pound a screw driver against soft aluminum to remove it. Does this seal fail often? It wasn't leaking before (I'm at roughly 40k miles on my 98) should I expect it to leak afterwards.

If I pick up a regular seal puller from autozone will this work for the front pump seal?

As far as the install, should I have a special installation tool or would "walking" around it with a hammer work. I've done that back in the day and it seemed to work fine...but I'm older and wiser now and I want to make sure it seats correctly.

How did you guys do it?
