E3 spark plugs
Has anyone used E3 spark plugs in their corvette? I was watching Horsepower TV and they did a dyno test on a LS1 motor and claim they picked up 5 HP verus another high end plug.

Saw the same thing, only the baseline run was with a Bosch Platinum Plus 4 (makes me wonder why they used that as the baseline run). Wonder what it would have done against a plain copper NGK TR55.

I indeed myself saw this today and was about to make the same post..
I personally dont believe it.. 5hp off changing plugs? They didnt show a dyno graph or anything... E3 is probally paying horsepower tv to feature their plugs and "make them look good"
Id like to see it against other plugs on a non biast dyno tuner.

The bosch +4 plugs are awful plugs that cause lots of drivability problems. I wouldnt doubt at all they got 5hp from changing them. Would like to see a fresh set of NGK plugs run, then the fresh E3 plugs.

I can remember when splitfire plugs came out, all the hype,, add hp,, better mpg, all that stuff.. What a joke. The electrode would wear down after 10k miles.. Nothing like a regular copper plug.. Thats what the nascar boys have always used.

well for me....
Iam more interested cause of fuel prices these days at a plug that is most efficient. This in turn should equal most hp as a side effect. I am not interested in a plug that delivers an extra 2 hp but you get 1 less mpg. That adds up to lots of $$$$$$ these days.

I changed my factory plugs to the Bosch +4... and had random misfires. Checked and rechecked everything... it pointed to the plugs.
Took the +4's back to Advanced Auto; telling them the specifics of why I was returning them. Counter droid asked if the engine was a "stock LS1"... without me yet mentioning what car I had.
I said yes and he stated that the Bosch +4's are colder than normal... and aren't a good choice for a mostly stock LS1. They sold me Denso Iridiums; and they worked perfectly; no missing at all.

Yeah the good ole Split Fire. Piece of shi, oh sorry, anyway I put those hyped plugs in my jet boat and burned a hole right through the top of a piston. Then they told me that they wouldn't do anything about it because of all the Mallory and Crane high energy ignition stuff was sparking past the fork in their plug. Although they were pushing them for race cars.
Would I risk my LS1 to E3 plugs? For a minimal unfelt 5 HP gain? Dunno but I do have 1 running in a Toro weedeater and it starts easier. Also seems to have more faster power and less smoke. No joke I needed a plug and it's all Lowes had in stock. Never thought to try them in my Vette, until I saw HP TV. Good advertising.

HP TV from credible to incredible, didn't they push the turbinator or one of those similar gimmicks? I remember that, thats when they "jumped the shark" and speaking of splitfiree they were involved in a class action lawsuit over claimed performance or damage caused by them. anyway I was totally disappointed with HP TV when they pushed those snake oil products touting them as the real deal. Oh well ,I guess the almighty dollar sttill rules, and they say it with a straight face.
