Default How to remove crankshaft seal without removing timing cover?

Hi guys,

I'm replacing my crank pulley and balancer with an aftermarket set up. How do I remove the front crankshaft seal without removing the timing cover? Do I need any special tools? I don't want to damage the front of the crank.

Thanks in advance!

First the question is WHY dont you want to remove the timing cover? The gasket is reuseable? its real easy to replace the seal when you hammer it out from the back.

If for whatever reason you cant do that, youll have to use a screwdriver and a hammer to pry the old one out and use a big socket or a pipe or something to hammer the new one on...
