Borg Warner vs Tremec
Which is a better transmittion? I'm considering taking a Tremec from a newer vette and taking out the Borg Warner from my late built 98 C5. Is it a good idea??

Not sure it makes much of a difference. Borg Warner sold everything to Tremec during the 97 model run which constrained the availability of 6 speeds during the short 97 production run as everything was transferred to Mexico.

I don't know how true it was or not, but was told long ago that the BW transmissions weren't built strong enough to handle the demands of the C-5 power. Tremec supposedly was able to build them better. True or not, I really don't know however, I do know that the BW transmissions had paper blocker rings inside that do not like Mobil 1 ATF...do not use that fluid with a BW tranny or suffer the fate that I did...buying a new transmission and in my case, a Tremec. Mine was a early '99 that wasn't supposed to get a BW, rather a Tremec but somehow, still unknown, mine came with a BW.

Do all Tremecs have the newer blockers?? I have an early 2000 (9/99 build) and everything I read they didn't switch blockers till 01! need to look next time I'm under there to see what I have!!
