I know the best bang for the buck wires are the GM Red Performance wires. The best price is from Gene Culley. Very good wires at a very good price.

Plugs are like beer, everyone will have an opinion. Your stockers lasted 7 years. There's not any HP to be gained from a plug swap or wire swap if your old stuff was in working order. If your old stuff was causing issues, you will gain back what you lost from the defective parts.

I had MSD's, pulled them for a set of Magnecors. Come to think of it, I went through 2 sets of MSD's on my SS too... I really like the Magnecors, and DAMN are they thick at 10.4mm compared to the stock 7mm or the GMPP 8mm!

If you look at a an actual spark plug firing inside the cylinder, I seriously doubt that it looks like that! The spark ONLY jumps from ONE electrode "even on a multiple electrode plug" and its only a tiny spark!!! The flame front that is produced would be the same! There is a LONG going debate on fancy verses standard spark plug designs. Unless theres a proven dyno HP improvement, documented by an independent source,, I wouldn't believe the HYPE!

You would do better by purchasing a spark plug indexing kit and indexing your standard plugs!!!

I used the Autolite wires...price for the set was 34 bucks and the construction looks identical to the stock wires and resistance was almost the same as stock as well.

I replaced my plugs and wires last year. It made a huge difference. I used GM Red Performance Wires and stock plugs. I could instantly tell a difference at high RPM (3500+), it was much smoother. Felt like a whole new engine to tell you the truth. My mechanic indexed my plugs for me too.

I was having problems sometimes when starting the car, very strange things would happen. Sometimes the car would tell me I was an intruder and shut down asking me to re-insert the key after waiting for some period of time!

Suprisingly they all wen't away after changing the wires and plugs. I had a lot of miles on them though, more than 60k. /selfbonk

I did notice a decrease in gas mileage with new plugs, could be just me being so much happier with the performance.

I thought the same thing. I totally agree. Best I could figure is the old wires would cause some sort of interference when the starter motor lowered the voltage of the electric system. I haven't had one single problem with the puter after starting the car since I replaced the wires.

I am knocking on wood right now hoping it remains true.

I'm not sure whats harder to believe, the plugs and wires fixing the security problem, or getting worse gas mileage from new plugs and wires.

Did you notice allot of radio interference or anything else with the old wires? Or did you maybe do anything else besides just a plug and wire swap and forgot it about it because it seemed trivial?

I doubt if a badly leaking wire discharging across to ground would affect only the VATs... but ya never know!

The standard ignition blue streaks I got them at o'reilly's. You'll never use anything else. They are decent priced 9mm and have kevlar sleeves that cover them. You can tell they are quality as soon as you pick one up

GMPP Red wires seem to be the go to wires for stock applications, I have never tried the the blue streaks..
Also go thru you're control panel settings and look around so your less likely to post in 14yr old threads
