Seafoam CAN be used in the oil. However, it's not going to fix a lifter tick. If you're running a ticking lifter when it's warmed up, it's quite possible that it's bleeding down and not holding as the oil flows quicker once it warms up.

Over-rev the motor lately? Could be a bent pushrod or there have been a few cases where the valve springs got tired and the lifter couldn't keep up with the cam causing mechanical damage. Also, some of the late 90's early 00's cars had lifter tray #10, which itself can cause lifter issues. Have you examined the rocker? That could have dumped some bearings as well.

I love the benefits of sea foam but unfourtanatley it will not cure a damaged lifter.

I had lifter noise with excessive smoke from the exhaust and misfire condition. After trying numerous quick fixes with no luck, I pulled the valve covers and found four bent pushrods and two others that were broke in half. All were intakes. Replaced all 16 (including exhaust) with crane 700x4 hardened pushrods (from Ecklers). Problem solved. One of the statements in the sales article stated "Solves the problem of misdiagnosed engine misfire". Was not a hard job, about 1.5 hrs. Good luck with your problem.

i did a Seafoam treatment on my '96 Z28(LT1) and it was really smokin' afterwards. Really felt like a different car afterwards. Oil was FILTHY and you could see the carbon in it. Car ran ALOT better and when i was doing the burn off it was really smokin'.

What should I do if, when I turn it off and try to drown it, the engine stays on and starts dieseling and shuddering. That happened last time I used SeaFoam, so I quickly restarted it for half a minute, then it shut off. But then, I think I lost the "final coverage" of pouring it in while shutting it down.
