C5 Differential Fluid
Is the fluid in the differential of the C5 the same as that used in the C6? I recently purchased a 03 Z06 and am going to replace all of the fluids. I found info on replacing the diff fluid for the C6 but nothing specific on the C5.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Diff fluid
Use any SAE 75W-90 Synthetic Axle Lubricant meeting GM Specs 9986115. Also add 4 ounces of LImited Slip Axle lube additive.
You can probably get some Mobil 1 75W-90 LS from a local parts store for like $8 or $9 a bottle and you will need 2 bottles. Make sure the bottle has the "LS" on it. It stands for "limited slip", therefore you dont need to add the 4 ounces of limited slip additive. This is what I use and I dont have any problems. Good luck

Talk to gene culley at GMPARTSHOUSE a vendor on the forum. He set me up. He said to go with the new C6 fluid that has the friction modifier in it. Get two bottles and your set. no need to measure two fluids.

I just did (diff and tranny) this past weekend.
Make sure you get a handpump as there is no room to pour from the bottles.
I paid $4.09 for onr from Auto zone and it worked perfectly with the Amsoil bottles.
The grinding from the rear during tight turns is gone and it shifts smoother.

+1 on the handpump... it takes a while to do the diff with long tubing and a funnel
( ask me how I know... )
I'll be getting the hand pump to do the tranny fluid.
I used Redline's 75-90 diff oil. Good tip: Heat the bottles a bit with a hair dryer or something to make the fluid move easier... it will help
