2001 Corvette Headlight Switch
1st I want to thank everyone who posted corvette solutions to this web site. I was able to use several and saved myself a ton of money.
I have a problem with my brand new headlight switch that I just installed.
1. When I first start my corvette, the parking light bulbs turn on, both on the left and right side. The headlight switch is in the Off position.
2. When I turn the switch to point to the parking light position, the parking lights turn Off, the headlights are in the down position, with headlights Off.
3. When I turn the switch to the headlight position, the headlights are up, the lheadlights are ON, and the parking lights are ON.
4. When I turn the switch back to the parking light position, the parking lights are OFF, the headlights are still UP, but headlights are OFF.
5. When I turn the switch back to the OFF position, the headlights are down, the headlights are OFF, but the parking lights come back on.
Any solutions to this problem?
I replaced the Hazard switch and the Headlight Switch, plus a few fuses.
Thanks

What you are describing sounds totally normal to me. It sounds like you might be getting the parking lights and the DRL's mixed up. The DRL's are on during the day when the headlamp switch is off. Am I off-base here or is this what you are seeing? The DRL's will be fairly bright orange/amber assuming you have the correct lamps in them.

I agree with dgrant. That sounds like normal operation when the engine is running. With the engine off the DRLs will be off for all 5 test steps. You will only see the parking lights come on in #2 to #4.
Most of the guys who hand-wash the Vette utilize that functionality of #4 to clean the headlights.
I'm curious what problems you resolved by switching your turn signal stalk? I think your functionality "baseline" of your old one may be off.

dgrant3830 - Thanks dgrant
I was just wondering if that was the normal headlight switch operation.
Just to be sure, when I turn the headlight switch to parking lights,
the parking lights are turned OFF. Is that correct?

Thanks toddk.
My turn signals weren't work, nor the tail lights, when I turned on the head lights.
So I replaced the switch. It still didn't solve my turn signal problem. After further searching, I found that hazard switch was the problem. The signals work fine for now.

Cool on the hazard switch. In answer to your previous, when you go from the headlamps back to parking lights only, thats what you get...parking lights. When you turn those off, then you'll get the DRL's which are the same lamps, just different filaments and a lot brighter. I'm guessing that you either don't have or are not using the twightlight sentinel?
