Warped Rotors, should the dealer replace them???
I have warped front rotors on my Pewter car. It's booked in to the local main dealer in the morning to get them fixed. Should he replace them, he said they machine them. Is this normal?

I know of some people that got their rotors replaced by the dealer under warranty.

It all depends on the dealer. My rotors were warped at about 7,000 miles and I as well brought my car to the dealer. The service manager said they would machine down the rotors. I argued with him but I got know where at all. When I picked the car up the next day he told me the Corvette tech who worked on my car refused to machine the rotors on a Z06. He said it was to risky for such a high performance machine and he didn't want the responsibility. I was happy as you can imagine.

Mine were warped too. The dealer wound up turning them for free for me, and my car was under the 3/36 at the time. However, I've heard elsewhere on the Forum that rotors aren't covered for 3/36 and I think I was over the limit on the rotors at the time. (read as = I got a freebie) :D:D:D
Best of luck to ya.

Got mine replaced after 12,000 miles under warranty. I paid the difference for the GM Drilled and SLotted rotors. Ended up paying like $275 for the whole thing. I got new pads to boot. :D

Haven't had the problem (yet) on the Vette, but I've had the dealers replace discs on a few different cars over the years. They never machined them (at least that's what they told me). With that low miles, you should definitely get new ones. Good Luck.

Hey Phil,
Go ahead and try to get the dealer to replace them. You've got nothing to lose trying. Machining them will just ensure they warp again very soon.
I am about to put on my 3rd set of rotors. My stock rotors lasted to 9000 miles. I then bought the Baer slotted/drilled rotors (not the eradispeeds) and they lasted until 25K. I know what warped the Baers. 1/4 runs down at Speedworld. They were fine until I started running the 1/4, then got progressively more warped each time I raced. I guess they didn't like those 100MPH - 0 stops coming off the run.
I have a new set of Eradispeeds sitting at home, waiting to go on when I get my car back from Tim.
