squeaky rear suspension
I have noticed lately my vette making squeaky noises in the read suspension
If I push on it it squeaks. Is there some bushings or something i have to lubricate back there.
The car has 36K on it and is a 2000 model. Its geting annoying and I dont want to ruin anything.

Mice???
Most likely it is your sway-bar mount bushings. You might want to do a search on this to see what others are doing to limit it. Silicone spray at the sway-bar where it goes into the rubber bushings sometimes helps for a while.

Well this seems like a simple fix and a cheap one too., I may try greasing them first.
---------------------------------------
Gentlemen, I ordered a pair Front & Rear from Zip Corvette, best price around so far, $14.95 a pair.. If your C5 is a 97-09 and stock Coup (meaning not a Z06) or upgraded suspension. Front sway bar will be 23mm and rear will be 19mm then here are the part number from Zip Corvette.
Front 23mm SU-1103......$14.95
Rear 19mm SU-1105......$14.95
Add approx. $9.50 for UPS shippment, and your good to go..
There are new polyurethane bushings. Maximize your suspensions potential with quicker responses and predictable performance each time. These bushings are impregnated with graphite to prevent SQUEAKS. Black only. Sold in pairs. Fits 97-09 Corvette.

so i got under the car just now and found the bushings. they look ok but i noticed there are connected to "arms" that it bolts to then to the frame. there are some rubber covers (dont know what they are called) around the bolts. they are dry rotted out.
what are they for.. ???
do I need to worry about them?
Dont look to hard to replace so what is the part number and where can I get them?
Can i use white lithium grease on the bushings ?

That sounds like the end links which connect the sway bar to the a-arm. You have to replace the whole piece.
Here right near the top is the metal end link for $26 each

Are you saying you don't see the rubber bushings that the sway bars are mounted in?(right there in the second picture?)
Ok,well when you do find them, pull them off, grease them(where the bar runs thru them),and put them back on-
your squeak will go away...

No thats not what I am saying the DOWN LINK to the frame ( first picture) or what ever it is called has some bolts that tie to the sway bar and they seem to have rotted rubber pieces. It fell apart when I touched it.
Will I hurt my car if these are missing.
What are they for (bushing not the black things) ?
Can you replace the bushing or have to replace the black piece that ties the sway bar to the frame?

I'm not sure I fully understand your question, but the link, black plastic piece that ties the sway bar to the lower control arm is called a Sway Bar Link. These links have a ball and socket at each end that the stud and nut that holds each end is connected to. These links will cause a rattle or clunk type noise when one or both of the socket ends go bad. These ends also have a rubber boot that protects the ball and socket. If the rubber boot is the part you are talking about, you need to replace the link. The replacement units are aluminum and not plastic anymore.

Yup thats what I was asking about. I just put them on order. I bet that is part of the noise issue. Once I get the new ones on grease everything up good and put it all back together and see what happens.

well i got the new parts yesterday. Hope to put them on this weekend. They are not the same as the old one and look smaller but I smaller sure they will be fine.
Does not look to hard to do.
I know these go to the sub frame and the sway bar so I am guessing there is no tension on them and tney should just swap out?
Or should I take weight off the suspension before doing them to make it easier to get them out and in?

I find it easiest to use car ramps, but it can be done with weight off the suspension as well. Just be careful not to cross-thread the attachment bolts and they should be clean and dry, including the bolt holes to avoid over torquing. I believe the torque is 58Nm.

Melting Slicks
I used teflon tape wrapped around the sway bars where they meet the rubber insulators (aka bushings). Cleaner than grease and no squeaks.
