It really is easy
Taking it off, I probably used the tool wrong therefore the flange was ripped off, forcing me to break the pulley and the trip to the machine shop. Putting it on, I was using the tool correctly and it still took forever to get the new pulley back on.

I've gotta pick at ya for leaving the pump itself raw now that it's more visible.

Started sanding mine. She's getting the full pimp treatment.

Yeah I could have bought a chrome idler pulley as well.

Not like it's very visible in the C5 engine bay. You can kinda see the top of the PS pulley if you're specifically looking for it, but that's about it.

Might be a different story on a street rod app.

^ Makes sense...

I'm going overboard. Not many people would polish the motor mounts.

To install a new pulley does the pump have to be removed from the car? I assume yes? What are the replacement pulley options? How much do you think a shop or the dealer would charge to replace the pulley? Since we are in there is there any other part that needs to be replaced?

The older pulleys were solid plastic with no holes so they had to be removed to provide access to the pump mounting bolts, later pulleys had holes in them. Does the ZIP aluminum pulley provide enough space between spokes so that the pump mounting bolts can be removed with a socket or does the pulley have to be removed from the pump first? Is there an aluminum pulley with access holes so that the pump/pulley assembly can be removed from the engine without having to separate the pulley from the pump first?

Yes, it's called an OE LS2 PS pump pulley.

GM part # 12568997 Less than $20.00.

I think I'm going to go the cracking plastic way and order the new pulley. I'm sure that with 90k on my car and me having bought it for track stuff, I'm going to end up having to replace it at some point anyway, even if I manage to use the puller and get the old one off and installed on the new Turn One pump without it cracking in the first place. Seems like a way easier removal also since I won't have to pull the entire bracket. Anyone on that can give some insight? I already blew out the seal in the pump due to hard driving at Auto X, so I'd venture the pulley is going to be too brittle to survive much longer anyway, and the C6 pulley is only another $20... Have to wait for the new reservoir hose and clamps to come in anyway...

This is what I bought, it has openings for bolt access so you never have to pull it off again unless you're replacing the pump.

And what size belt, stock? The diameter of the pulley seems to be about the exact same size.
