Anything smaller and you will not be gaining much for the money. I would still suggest a stall as soon as you can.
Absolutely--on both points----I would Not waist the time or $$$ on a stockish type cam as you have listed--You will be hugely disapointed with your effort----AND 2ndly---- I would deffantlety do a Stall converter BEFORE the cam---If you are looking for acceleraton you can't beat a stall converter mod---1/2 a second gains in the 1/4 are common--
Here in Norh calif at the drag strip i see STOCK HEADS & CAM C5's with a 3000 stall making 12.70-12.90 passes---
Make your own decisions but i would gather my information from guys who have actually done it or raced and NOT from guys who think they know about things from reading bad advice on the internet from wannabes

TBLU, having a bad day?
I'm sure your experience and advice would be welcomed, but beating up the other guys who are trying to help is unwarranted I think.

TBLU ? ? ?

Let me tell you stock heads, stock cam, stock stall, stock gears.

12.8 passes all day here in NC, maybe you should move to the east coast and pick up 1/2 a sec.

Yes I have read and asked, and found the info I needed for what I'm looking for.

I ordered the right cam for the set-up I was looking for.

When I get it all together I will let everyone know what the small cam can do, with the right combination.

My goal is 400RWHP and I'm pretty sure I will be getting just that and still have a car that will run like like hell and sound like a stocker.

I've been running the Comp 222/224 566/568 112 cam for a few years now with the stock converter. I've played with the idle settings and RAF and it seems to be ok idling at 675 rpms. Idle fuel trims are out of wack in gear at idle if I sit to long in gear. I just kick it in neutral when I think I'm going to be at a stop for more than 20 secs. No big deal.

I've always wanted to try the Mike Merc. slightly higher stall GM light truck TC but I've just never got around to it.

I don't race AND I hate the feel of a slipping high stall TC on the street so what I have now is fine with me.

Happy Hoidays Guys!

Don't quite understand what you mean---I was AGREEING with Horsepower Additcs post about getting a stall berfore a cam and 2ndly getting something bigger than a low teen cam something in the mid 20's range--
Also in agreement were the posts by Mickey 7106-----White C-5---
Blue Fire---& Motogib-1---

I wasn't beating up on anybody----- Maybe you mis read it But I read it again and it says "Absolutely on both points ""
( agreeing with him and others who have the same thoughts--

Forum member Alex 1214 had ECS install a cam in his A4, if I remember correctly his rwhp was 407?. You could pm him, or just call ECS 609-752-0231, or www.eastcoastsupercharging.com

I've got the same cam (see my sig) and would suggest a 3600 stall.

I'm waiting on a few parts to start on my upgrades, I have on hand my new cam, XR265HR, yes it's small but is what I wanted, just a tad bigger than a Z06 on my C5 Coupe.

It should put me right were I was looking for.

So how did it turn out? I have a 99 with kooks headers/xpipe/LG exhaust. z06 air box. I want to put a mild cam in the car. I drive this car 60 miles a day as my commuter. I would just like a little more punch and DO NOT want to change the converter. I have had many and hate them in a street car.

hmm...usually a good sign when there is no reply. if there are problems we always hear about them

i do think the OP made a very smart choice with the size of cam he chose since he is staying with the stock converter. my suggestion would have been a stock z06 cam since it's likely to be more reliable and less costly than the comp. with ported heads and headers 400whp would have been in the cards
