LS1-edit best thing to happen to C5....YEEEEEHAAAA!!!!!
Just loaded my first program to PCM with LS1-edit and am telling you this this is best thing to happen to C5. I just did the increase in idle and fan setting and torque management at first. Was a piece of cake....really user friendly. I can see where if you do not take care and go radical on setting, like setting the rev limit at 8000rpm, you could have major problems....but hey...you tunning is now in your hands....there is also lots of support and files from stock programming to mod programing being swapped out from other useing the edit.
So now...not only can you save the wave....you can program it :yesnod:

How does this work? Is it something that connects to the C5's PCM? Does it connect to a PC?
Many thanks

how does LS-1 Edit programming differ from a unit programmed by a tuner based on your mods, TTS Powerloader II????
Would LS-1 Edit be better?

indy:
THe Ls1edit program allows you to do anything that the other pcm tuners can do (tts or ed wright et at). THe main advantage with ls1edit is that you can continually fine tune your car without having to send back the pcm or the powerloader and incurring the associated costs.
Ls1edit is very easy to use, however, it can get you in trouble quick if you try doing to much without the use of a dyno or atap.

I've been using Autotap for about two years now and have also used the Autotap/MAF translator combo to "tune in" a couple of cars. Is it as easy as using a MAFT to adjust for a lean or rich condition with LS1-Edit or do you need to know a lot of technical stuff to do it? Do you think I could safely use it for this purpose? Thanks!

if you get LS1 edit you will not need the MAF translator anymore!
I would LOVE to get LS1 edit but the cost is a little out of my range right now. :cry

yes, I am sure you can save the stock programming. I remember reading that somewhere.

Re: LS1-edit best thing to happen to C5....YEEEEEHAAAA!!!!! (DUKE)
seeing as I dont have atap or a dyno would it make more sense to have ARE tune my car while I'm there(for the cost of the program itself($500)). I'm having heads and cam done at ARE soon and am trying to figure out what to do. The car is already powerloaded and I sent it back for reprograming(some people say its the best option)or should I pay tha $ and just have ARE do it. I just dont want to take a step backwards, some people say S cole is the best and I am worried that ARE wont match the powerloader. I know they are highly reputable but are they as good with ls1 edit? Just curious, trying to get the best tunning. Dont want to pay anouther $500 when I could get a powerloader reprogram for $75 but would if it will be better. Please give me some insight. The general opinion is that on dyno tunning would be better is this so??? Please help, any opinions welcome.

Not only can you read and save the factory program or any other tunner program that is on the PCM, but you are encouraged to do that. You need a fixed reference point and if you wanted to go back to stock you can. The possibilities are almost limitless.

Re: LS1-edit best thing to happen to C5....YEEEEEHAAAA!!!!! (abraham)
abraham:
in a word YES.
You would be better off paying the $75 (versus the $500)to Cole to have it reprogrammed. There really is not much that is done. I have seen about a dozen Cole loaded pcms and there really is not a whole lot changed. If your car is already programmed and you are doing h/c, just pay the $75 and have Cole reprogram it. You may give up an extra 20rwhp, but I think you will live :D :D :D
However, if you are trying to squeeze EVERY last ounce of power and race the car, then I would get the dynoed tuned deal. It all depends on how much you are going to be running your car. Does another $500 or for 20 more hp work for you?? If so, then....
just imo....
dyno tuning and track tuning is better ...always..
oh ahh now if you had never powerloaded your car I would have gone with having ARE ls1edit tune your car, but .... :D

Yes, I realize that. I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me how much easier or harder it is to perform the MAF translator functions with LS1-Edit.
