Default Trunk lid barely pops up

I know I've seen the "fix" before, but can't seem to find it now. When I hit the button to "open the trunk" on my C5 Convertible, the lid barely pops up. What's the fix? Thanks

Just order the trunk popper from Barry Atkins, 8409 Running Cedar Trail, Raleigh, NC 27615, or sales@C5TrunkPopper.com I've got one of these on my '03 Z06, and it works great.

Use the "search" feature for trunk popper and you will find many threads here's one.

I think its in the sticky on general discussion section. Try a lube on it at the center latch. I have found that helps it pop open a little more. There is something (the popper) like a spring in the center of the latch that is a bit bigger than a coat hanger. If you can get a pair of needle nose pliers on it, move/bent it up a little bit. There are some fixes for sale on this problem, but you can go to a hardware store and buy a spring/screw and mount it on the trunk plate next to the latch area. Awhile back there was a post on this, someone suggested bending the spring (popper) back into proper position.

Ultimate DIY sticky above has a few post about it. Search on "trunk lid wont pop". The one above has DIY spring fixes. In the Ultimate DIY many say to just lub the hinges for the trunk and they got good results. I could not find the one I was looking for about the popper spring in the latch. good luck

shut the door (windows closed)-the air pressure will pop it up.

I installed two of those springs! There really is no other way to git 'er done. Especially if you have stainless underside trim or a heavy embroidered panel. Any extra weight on the lid and it doesn't want to come up without an assist...
