I am only running Firestone Wide Oval tires in the stock size on the stock C6 rims so I'm sure the adapters aren't being stressed as much as they would be with a stickier tire. I would like to go with a wider rim and "stickier" tires all the way around but I'm not sure how much wider we can go under these cars without a mini tub or flaring the fenders.

I thought the ZR-1 rims were wider than the regular C6 rims?
They are replicas with the C6 offset. I installed them today.

Default C7 Wheels - offset

I have a set of 2014 C7 wheels/tires (18 and 19) that required a 1" adapter on rear wheels to keep them from hitting on the inside frame.

Ordered adapter set from Motorsport Tech and will be here today.

NOTE: I also have to replace the TPMS sensors as the C6/C7 uses a different frequency than C5. I have plans to use Discount Tire to replace sensors and re-balance wheels.

Will upload pic's once I get finished this week.

Good to see some feedback on long term use of adapters. Motorsports Tech provides a lifetime warranty so they feel confident with their product.

You should use the same TPMS sensors for your year of car (or conversion), not the TPMS sensors for the year of the wheels, correct?

Yes, you have to use the TPMS sensors correct for your car year, not the wheels installed.

gmpartsdirect offers the OEM C5 TPMS for $47 / each and my local Discount Tire matched the price so just letting them install theirs.

BTW, here's a pic of 2014 C7's on my C5.
Just installed today with 1" rear wheel adapters from motorsports tech. Perfect offset

Sorry for the poor pic's but it was dark and rainy by the time I finished.

I got mine from Motorsports Technology in Reno NV.

Lifetime warranty and it's all they do. Have about 3k on then since installed.

Rides smooth as silk ... tested up to 120+ for a brief spin.

I put factory C7 wheels on so can't attest to aftermarket wheels.

Sorry, I don't visit this site anymore due to the issues it causes my browsers.

BTW, I think I only put on 3/4" spacers on the rears and they fit perfect.

Fronts didn't need anything.

Default Rear only need spacers

See the attached image.
Inside the rear wheels, you should see a number like this.

19 X 10 with a "J" number
Mine are J79
Which required a 7/8" adapter to clear the tires from the frame inside.

Good luck.

Here are shots of my car with the wheels on with the 7/8" adapters.
Nice and flush with the body.

Not C6 wheels... But this thread is one of the ones that inspired me to put OEM C7 Z51 rims on my C5.

Fronts fit perfectly. For rear fit I used a 5/8" Doug Rippie Motorsports spacer & 2.5" ARP chrome molly studs.

this is a good read.. ive been looking into c6/c7 wheels for my c5.. but honestly, unless you find a REALLY good deal on OE wheels, or repros.. it almost seems like you can get some TSW's or good aftermarket wheels for about the same price as these, once you buy the rims, the spacers, new TPMS sensors etc.. your well over a grand.. or am I missing something?

I have chrome wagon wheels on my car now, can I re-use these TPMS sensors on c6/c7 wheels? or if I go with TSW's, will they work on them? for something that seems as simple as a wheel and tire swap, it can get complicated !!

thanks for the additional info.. and since from what I can tell, the valve stem is integrated into the TPMS, im assuming that the shop that mounts and balances the tires, has to have these when they mount and balance my tires on the new rims??

thanks. this forum is very helpful to a new vette owner
