Default VETTE down! what could it be? Either tranny or differential???

Hey guys here we go. I have a 98 C5 A4 Coupe with 145k miles. The tranny had been rebuilt with a shift kit about 30k miles ago. i changed the fluid in the tranny and differential about 2-5k miles ago.

The tranny was acting weird ever since the fluid change in the tranny and diff and I had tugging/surging when of deceleration when the converter was locked. When the tranny was in neutral or when the TC wasnt locked my rpms would bounce around...here is a link to my previous post about that.
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...und-video.html

Here is what happened... I was on my way to work this morning. I put the car into 1st as i like to down shift for turns, as i was coming out of the turn i got on it and once the car hit 2nd gear there was a POP and then no power to the wheels whatsoever... there was fluid dripping and if i put the car in gear there is a grinding/popping noise from the rear...i got the car towed home and i jacked it up to take a look...the place where the fluid is coming from is where the tranny connects to the differential.

here are some pictures of it from underneath

here are pictures

Is it tranny fluid or diff fluid? Either way it's coming apart to have one or the other repaired/replaced. Based on where it's leaking I would guess the tranny broke something.

From your answers if the noise is from the rear of the car, than you have a failure on the input side of the Transmission! Torque Tube, Torque converter, and Pump Assembly and or Input Shaft area. Which means she will need to come apart to be inspected!

I am afraid after you get the transmission repaired you will need to address your original problem with the engine!

Please just leave this page. Don't bother. None of your responses on this forum from what I have seen have helped in any way. Thank you

The person changing the diff should be able to change the ratio in your pcm and it should not be a big expense. When they change that there are other options in the pcm that can be tuned. If your installer isn't familiar with this ...... find some one who is. Also the PCM can be removed and sent to a tuner who can do this. For example ECS offers a great deal on mail order tunes.
