Default Multifunction Switch

Good Afternoon:
I have a 2000 CP
It seems I have the same problem a lot of owners have with the Multifunction turn signal switch.

My right rear turn signal does not blink. When I set the **** to the right all lights blink as if a bulb was out.

I have replcaed all the bulbs and checked the connections. If I turn on the flashers they work as well as the brake lights. If I then turn on the right signal it shorts out the circut.

My real question is do I need to remove the wheel and airbag to replace the Multifunction Switch?

If somone could let me know that would br great. I read a post about someone who was trying this on a much older model.

Thanks

Do a search, there is much on this. I replaced mine recently, it's not too bad, and you do not need to remove the wheel. There is one screw where you will have to be clever to loosen, but that's it.
One guy on the web actually disected and fixed the unit, but he must be a genius. I examined it and was not going to fool with it and go through all the trouble of putting it back in again.

Turning on the flashers and setting the turn signal is shorting out the circuit? I believe that's the first I've heard that one. Certainly its possible that the multi-function switch could be causing it, but it doesn't sound right. Are you sure you have the correct lamps installed in the car's front and rears? You also might want to cycle the hazard flasher several times.
