Default How Do I Re-Set Oil Life Remaining?

How do i re-set my oil life remaining after an oil change? I went to guages, pushed until I got to oil life remaining then pushed reset but nothing happened. I want to make it 100% as I had the oil changed recently but the oil life remaining was not re-set to 100%. How do I do that ? Please help

Easiest way:

Turn ignition on, but don't start the car.
Push the gas pedal to floor 3 times quickly.

Your oil life will now read 100%.

Is that true? Not to question your sincerity, but I never heard of that.

Yes, I believe it works on any GM car with the oil life monitor. Works the same on my 2004 Silverado too.

And, it's easy enough for you to go try. No, you won't flood your car, no fuel will be injected with the engine not running.

Doesn't work on C6 Vettes or some other newer GM cars.

Page 6-15 in the 1999 Corvette Owners Manual

"How to Reset the Engine Oil Life Monitor"

1. With the ignition on, press the TRIP button so the OIL LIFE percentage is displayed.

2. Press RESET and hold for two seconds. The word RESET will appear, then OIL LIFE 99%.

Pg. 6-16 What to Do with Used Oil... Oh, sorry.

Easiest way on a c6 or c5

1)turn ignition to on, but to not start engine
2)press trip until the oil life shows
3)hold the reset button and depress the gas pedal 3 times

works every time!
