BTW, you also need a big socket to take off the outer nut. I found it at autozon. I think it was a 33mm.

Before I wrap this job up are there any tips for getting the axle sleeve over the output shaft and locked in?

Zombie thread alert.
The inner boot kit, 88952507, is discontinued by GM. Has anyone found a reasonably acceptable aftermarket part that won't eat itself at speed? Are we doomed to change them frequently, or is that whole thing a bit overblown?
