Default Broken Yella Terra Ultralight Rocker

Picked up a dead miss and a rattle on the way home last night. Pulled the valve covers this morning and found a broken YT Ultralight rocker. It's the intake rocker. It broke off the PR seat area. I found the steel insert for the pushrod but not the larger piece that broke off. I'll try to get some pics up later. I guess I'll go back to stockers with the COMP trunion upgrade. CRAP!!!

Any vendors sell LS3/L92 rockers already upgraded?

Damn Kevin. I hope that piece doesn't mess up your motor.

Were those new or a carry over from the prior motor? You may also want to shoot an e-mail to Jim at YT who posted his contact information in a thread about 6 months ago.

The motor's fine. Sneakelman and I will pull the head tomorrow and give it a shake. Hopefully the pieces will fall out and I won't have to pull the pan.

I sent an email to YT this afternoon asking if they had seen any other failures with the offset intake rockers.

Do you know what your valve spring forces were, old and new setup?

They are PAC 1521's. Both Richard and Shawn measured and tested them. They were within 5lbs of new specs. Richard reshimmed them for the cam when he ported them to Stage 3. That was about 2k miles ago.

That's not good. I hope that missing piece doesn't hose something.

I am running those in my engine. I hope that they continue to be ok...

I just spoke with Erik Koenig who has used tons of these spinning to 8kRPM. I think it may just be bad luck. Valve control is good so there is no reason for these things to be overly stressed.

That really sucks, you don't have that many miles on your new build.

Thank goodness for Corvette buddies to come over and help.

Looking at a set of these CHE rockers. Stockers modified with bushings.

Default broken rocker

Dam that's a stake in my heart, was in the process of upgrading to the yella terra's, because last week one of the stock rockers on the exhaust side in my motor came apart, found all 33 needles, also fellas NAPA carries the OEM magnetic drain plug, get one if you don't have one, none of the dealers carry them,my motor was find after the catastrophic failer of rocker. glad ur motor is OK.

I wonder if this is related to the other LS1 rockers breaking. I recall that the other ones were due to a machining error, I wonder if the same can be said about these?

It will be interesting to get YT's take on this as when the LS1 version had the issues a year or so ago they did a very good job of tracking down the issue and helping the guys who had bought the rocker sets that were problematic.

Got it all broken down ready for the head to come off. I'm out of time for the day so I'll order up the head gasket and rockers this week and finish the top end look see. Hopefully, all the pieces will be sitting around the lifter bay area.

Does anyone know the average difference in in PR length going from stock to YT rockers and vice versa? I've got a couple of sets but it would be nice is they are close to the same length. I'll measure and check anyways.

I did get my first look at the intake ports on the Stage 3 WCCH heads. They are HUGE. My arm got sucked in up to the elbow...

I'll post pics when the camera is charged.
