Do these spark plugs look right? oil on plugs. PICS
hey guys i ordered some MSD Super-Conductor spark plug wires along with a set of NGK TR55 plugs. i took my old cheap brand wires and Ac Delco Iridium plugs out that have approx 40k miles. they have oil on all plugs except one that was on drivers side.
here are the pics
got them from ccperformance.com for $68 shipped for plugs and wires
these are what all the plugs look like. driver side left, passenger side right
here is driver side
here is passenger side
close up of what all but 1 plug looked like
here is the one plug with no oil on it. came from driver side on the front cylinder of car.

Looks like oil on the threads..might be a gasket leak?
The pics were fuzzy, but looks like mostly normal wear. The post didn't say how old the plugs were or how many miles.
Good choice of wires & plugs.I prefer & run NGK coppers in all my rods.
Check out this chart.

My car idles very poorly now and sounds like it's missing. My car has a mail order tune by ecs. Could switching from ac delco iridium plugs to ngk tr55 plugs cause that issue. Or could a wire be messed up?

Check your plug wires again. First, make sure the plug ends on the capacitors are snug and tight. Listen for a "click" when you push the boots onto the plugs; they should fit snugly on the plugs. Once you're sure the plugs are okay, fire it up and see if that works. The NGK's are good plugs, should last a long time.

vacuum leak, pcv or one of the tb hoses? If it was a wire or plug it would miss all the time not just some of the time.. I would think ? but that would show at startup as well too you would think. How old is the tune? Was the issue there before ?

you should not have oil on the threads like that and the one plug in the pic that is cracked would not have caused that and could have been cracked removing it.
The plug tips themselves look somewhat normal to worn or like they have had oil burnt on them, need a better pic to be sure.
You 1st need to find out why you have oil on the threads; if you torqued the new plugs correctly, pull one out and see if it has oil on it too, if so does the car smoke?
seems like you may have a little oil getting into the cylinder possibly thru the valve guides past the seals.
Get a better pic of the electrode and see if the new plugs have oil on the threads, they should be dry. How many miles on the engine?

Then I'm guessing you've got some valve stem seal issues. There should not be any oil on the threads like that esp that much. Your tips also look like there is burnt oil on them.

This is what a normal use spark plug looks like:
Either way, there should be no oil on spark plug threads unless it is seeping in.
BTW, my spark plugs are dry and the porcelain tip is mostly lite-lite brown with a reddish brown tint from fuel additives.
normal plug:
Yours dont look like this at all, something is wrong.
