Starter change/kooks headers

That sounds like a heap of work, especially if they are 1 7/8", which more than likly are.
I would think any trailing pipes that are connected to the passenger side header would have to come out. Plugs/wires on that side too. Unbolt all the header bolts on that side , pull out the header gasket and see how much you can move them out of the way of the starter & tie them off with wire/heavy twine etc.
If still not enough room, you may have to loosen the motor mount nuts , or possibly take them and lift the pass side of the motor up, by means of a hydraulic jack.
If your interested ,there is a good Corvette machanic (Greg) that works at Vector Motorsports that would probably be able to squeeze your car into his busy schedule.
Looks like their shop is only about 15 miles from you.

If you have spent the last couple of days trying to get your starter out, I wouldn't cheap out on that part. It's too labor intensive.
I'd spring for a new GM replacement.
