Much of Electrical System Not Working
My son took over my 2000 C5 vert automatic when I purchased a C6 vert. My wife and I took many extended road trips - never any trouble. Recently, my son has experienced an intermittant problem. When he starts the car half of the cars electrical does not work. Aggressive jiggling of the key in the ignition seems to solve the problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rich

Simple...replace the ignition switch or follow the electrical sticky above for Bill Curlee's post on possible repair of them. The contacts will slowly give up over time, then heat up and burn.
I'm getting my '99 back from my son whom I gave it too 2.5 years ago when I bought my '07. It needs a clutch now as well as a new headlamp switch, something wrong with the driver's door speaker and disappearing coolant. I'll know more in October when I get it back.

Also ensure to never have a big glob (technical term) of keys, etc hanging off the key-ring when driving the car. Guaranteed way to wear out the lock cylinder pre-maturely.
