Going to a 402
Yes I am stepping it up to a 402 I know that power and reliability do not coincide in this world. My question is this for those of you who have gone to the dark side. What has been a good street/track set up?
I am going to do the M6 change over because I find myself doing way more Mt and track runs than the good ol 1320 and keeping the A4 cool going up an 8K foot MT or around a 2.75 mile track is not happening no matter how many tranny coolers I have. (Which I have 2 with aux pump) Great for street use though
What I like is a list of Mods. I am keeping my 243s with the Ls6 valves to up the compression and since I am staying NA for a while those heads have great air velocity for the set up. The LS6 valves will give me great stability in the upper RPM range if I wish to spin her 6500+ RPM I will step up to L92s once i decide whether I will do a Turbo or SC.
I am going to go custom cam so if any of you guys can pm me a few of your cam's geometries I'd appreciate it to get an idea with your thoughts.
The build is going to be TSP's LS2 Aluminum block stroked and forged 402. Am opting for the forged because like i said before I will more than likely boost, nothing big at most 8 lbs too much hp can make for a crappy day at the track specially if your not used to the boost curve.
This is the 402 set up.
Callies Compstar Forged 4.00" Stroke LS1 Crankshaft
Callies Compstar H-Beam 6.125" Connecting Rods with ARP 2000 Rod Bolts
Wiseco Forged Aluminum 2618 Pistons 4.005 bore -3cc, Pistons,
Wiseco Steel Top Ring and Napier 2nd Ring for Maximum Oil Control! T
Fully Balanced and Blueprinted
GM Main Cap Bolts
GM Coolant Plugs
GM Oil Galley & Oil Restrictor Plugs Installed
New Camshaft, Connecting Rod, and Main Bearing Sets
24x Tooth Reluctor Wheel
2005 LS2 cam gear, LS1 crank sensor = so i an use my stock computer.
Thanks for the info guys

I have an iron 402 in my 02 Z06. 11:4 compression, TF 215cc heads, 239/243 625/625, and an unported FAST 90/90. Car made just under 500rwhp, with tons more TQ than a 346. With the MN12 trans and 3.90 gears I average 17mpg city/freeway 60 miles a day 5 days a week. It is extremely fun compared to a 346 due to the low end power, even though I am holding it back with my small H/C/I it still should run close to 10's and make a good DD too. Bout to add the new Halltech Killer Bee II with the HUGE MAF and intake piping, should get me over 500rwhp.
