Default ACA/HID's installed, headlights won't retract

Ok guys i got the ACA's in and the HID's in. The headlights will not go down. Everything is installed correctly because the headlights shut off and turn on like normal and all lights fire and function just as they should. The problem is just the lights won't go down. I turn the lights off and i can hear a click(could be the HID's shutting off) but the motors make no attempt to shut the doors. I do have an HID flicker on the drivers side which i'm wondering if the ballast is going bad and that may be my issue. I've checked all fuses related to the headlights and nothing is blown. ~Cole~

Ok got them to retract FINALLY but it took me throwing them onto the high beams to do it. I'm guessing the fact that the one HID ballast is causing a flicker(going bad) that it's causing a resistance issue with the low beams and thus making them not retract. I started thinking about what might resolve this issue and i'm pretty sure that a new ballast will make the car happy again. Worse case is i just have to hit the high beams when i want shut the headlamps down

My car did the same thing when I installed my hid kit a year ago. I have been fliping on the high beams to make them shut ever since with no problems. I will check what brand mine are when I get home but they are the slim ballast type.

well that's the stupid thing the HID kit is the same brand and stuff as my old set i had in the stock housings. Just a different bulb size and these aren't the slim ballasts. I may order that resistor but probably not right away.

Do you need one for each side/headlight housing?

Yes... only need one. I connected it inline on my passenger side. Either side will work I think.

I used the JW resistor harness as well, but you are right and I dont see it any longer on their web site. You may want to check with them directly to see if they can still provide it, or check with some of the other forum vendors that do HID lighting conversions. Also use google to search and you will find some other vendors who sell a similar harness to avoid getting computer messages from the conversion to HID, but the resistor harness they sell may also fix your light bucket not retracting issue. As mentioned you can turn on the high beams and they should retract also.
