Headlight won't come up

Headlight won't come up
How do I know what the problem is? I know the gears can get worn out, how do I know it's the gears and not some other problem? It's only the driver's side. I've noticed it was slow the last few times I turned on the lights and last night it didn't go up! I tried many times and finally after driving it for about 15 minutes it did come up. I didn't hear any noises.
Thanks for your help...

It's not the gears.... The problems is the module powering the headlight motors. It is located under the passenger headlight. You could find a replacement on eBay for 30 or 40 dollars.

I want you to try something real quick and easy. The next time the one doesn't come up, put it back in the off position. Then manually turn the **** on the motor, just a part of a turn. Go back and turn on the headlamps and see if it comes up.

Cool...yeah, if you hear grinding then its the gears. Pay close attention to the spacers and where they come out from when you open the motors. The spacers will go back in, incorrectly which will then induce the problem I was having you test for...
