Difference between Bilstein Sport/Heavy Duty Shocks ?
The LAPD offers Bilstein Sport/Heavy Duty Shocks. What is the difference between the Sport and the Heavy duty shocks. I know that the Sport are more stiff, but thats all ?

HD and Sports are the same shock. Sports are made for slightly lowered cars.

They are NOT the same shock! (respectfully speaking Nate)
Bilstein technical specs indicate more dampening rate & longer internal throw with the Sports. They have posted #'s.
Real experience. Heavy Duty are used as replacement for the stock shocks, on a stock car. Sports are used if tyour car is lowered.
I initially had the HD's on my lowered car. Rode rough enough for me to slow down over the slightest road crease bump, anything, I was always slowing down, CD player was skipping etc.
Changed to the Sports, takes bumps perfectly, glides over them, NOT a hard jolt like with the HD's. CD never skips.
I sold the HD's to a guy and told him he will love them as long as he doesn't lower his car. He loves them.
I love the Sports with my lowered car. That is the rule...
Non lowered, go HD
Lowered, go Sports.
Putting Sports on a non lowered car may be too harsh a ride...

I think that is basically what Nate said in a lot less words. The sports are the choice for cars that are lowered (because they won't be as harsh because the travel is different etc.)

Actually, the info posted here is right and wrong for the following reasons.
The shock bodies are the same height and length. They look identical, but they are meant for different suspensions.
Bilstein designed the sports for the Z51 suspensions and the HD for the base suspensions.
This is the main difference between the sports and the HD.
Yes, of course the sports are stiffer because they are meant for the Z51 performance handling package.
The sports are NOT meant for lowered cars, but it is great cure for lowered cars not causing them to bottom out as they are valved for a sports ride/suspension, not to mention they are pretty comfortable shocks as well.
Most C5 owners no matter if they have the base of Z51 suspension go with the sports as they make the car feel the way they should have from the factory. The HD is a basic replacement shock for the base suspension and they are softer over the sports. I am sure most of you would agree that you like the feel of the sports. You want better body control, handling and comfort at the same time. This is all achieved with the Bilstein sport shock.
I just wanted to clarify why Bilstein has two shock options for the same car.
Hope this helps you out.

Let me confuse the issue even more. How do the Sports/HD compare to the 02 Z06 shocks? Considering the Z06 is supposed to be an upgrade over the Z51.
