Removing the dash isn't that hard. I'm doing a DD install and new gauge bezels, a few more screws and the dash pops out. It's not that difficult if you do need to do it.

Default Thanks!

Thanks to all who replied to this thread! I just corrected the same problem in my 01 by resetting the actuators via fuse removal/replacement. Worked like a charm!! I LOVE this site!

So I have a similar issue in a 2000. I took the car out on a colder day around 50 degrees. So I was running the heater with the a/c compressor off (button not lit). Drivers side was blowing very cold as if the a/c comp was in use, and passenger was blowing very warm as it should. I'll try the Fuze reset technique, but any ideas guys?

Another thought. Every time I pull the codes in my 04 I would get the ones showing the actuators issues. I tried the pull fuse method but did not help. Then based on another post for a different issue, I tried switching between inside and outside air, several times. After doing it, no more codes and air distribution is good. Do not know why, but it worked for me. Just a thought.

I see this in your future...

3-4 hours to take it apart. 30 seconds to change the actuators. 3 hours to put it back.
It's not rocket science but it sure is tedious.

Or you just drive on days that you don't need the heat or ac....bummer but it sounds like the actuator needs to be replaced.

I had a similar problem on my 99.
Checked the freon level several times with a basic gauge and was sure it had to be the driver's side actuator. Many CF members tried to convince me that it could be a lack of freon. But I was sure it was not a freon problem. So I managed to replace the driver's side actuator from under the dash without pulling the pad......it was a PITA. But the problem remained. So I took it to a local auto A/C shop and they ran a leak/pressure test. They found leaks in my evaporator coil as well as the compressor ;^(

So I would suggest you get an AC guy to test your system before you try replacing actuators.

Don't see no way to replace the right side actuator without pulling the dash pad. Been there. Make sure you buy the correct part as you won't want to do this more than once. The duel zone actuator has a different part number than the manual zone control and they do NOT interchange. You can buy the parts made by dorman on Ebay cheap, might just as well replace them both while you have the dash pad off. The dorman parts work great, many of them sold.
