C5 OBX longtubes & muffler-install and video
I just wanted to post a video of my2000 C5 with the OBX exhaust set up for those who are interested in getting the affordable exhaust.
I have the OBX longtubes w/ high flow cats. I also have the OBX mufflers/glasspacks. And vararam intake. With a tune. nothing else as far as performance add ons.
i had to drill holes in tunnel plate to clear 02 sensors, i also had to purchase 12" 02 extensions from Caspers electronics. i had to remove the pass. side valve cover to install the headers.
The high flow cats only work enough to where you dont have the unburned fuel smell being dumped out the back. You will not pass smog with the high flow cats. (i am in CA)
i also did not install the bolts to the tabs that mount to the bell housing (clutch cover housing) I read somewhere on here from someone who has installed many exhaust on the ls1, and have seen them break the header at that mounting point.
This exhaust makes my giz in my pants every time i drive it. I mostly enjoy listening to it instead of the stereo!
For the price of Borla mufflers, you can purchase full headers and mufflers from OBX.
They may be a foreign made copy of the american made systems, but when you dont have the money for USA made they work just the same.
I was very pleased with the quality, all stainless steel. Header flanges are very thick. only issue is the 02 sensor locations, they could of welded them in a different position. but it wasnt a big deal to put 2 small holes in the tunnel plate.
If i had to do it again, i would of heat wrapped the headers before installing. (hellov alot cheaper than ceramic coating). i did install some heat socks to protect the spark plug wires.
the video is just for sound of exhaust. i didnt video the install, sorry. but tried to document every issue i came across

i think that is it, hope this helps, i know it would of helped me when i was looking for exhaust.
Thanks for looking, let me know if you have questions
