Default How do you remove the 5 pin plug from the MAF sensor?

I know, sounds silly. I am installing a new Blackwing on my '03. The first step is to remove the 5 pin plug from the MAF sensor. I cannot figure out how to get that thing out. I am thinking of removing the hood, but don't want to do that if not necessary and possibly deal with hood alignment issues afterwords (and I don't have enough help to remove the good safely anyway).

You have to remove the small grey insert from the plug assembly before they will separate. Give that a try if you have not already.

Just curious how removing the hood would make this any easier.

Well, figured out the plug, that little retainer pin is not easy to get out when you are leaning over like that. Thanks B_rad.

Well, after getting tired of wrestling with the plug on the MAF and having a little difficulty getting the stock air box to come off the grommets, I looked and said...hummm, 4 bolts to get the hood off.

I didn't do it, but just thought it would make things a lot easier working that far forward in the middle of the engine compartment. When I was younger reaching and working like that was a lot easier! It was just a passing thought. Worked smarter and not harder when it came down to it. -Glenn

With a screw driver it's off in a second.

if it to hard to lean over, raise the car up on some jack stands and your leaning over will be easier, not necessary but, easier
