Default Oil filler cap removal?

I jut got my 99 2 days ago. I can't get the oil filler cap to come off. It will turn a couple of rotations and I can see that it is rising up just a little but it won't come off. I don't want to force it and break something. What am I doing wrong?

I use a small sheet of rubber to get a better grip. Twisting and pulling at the same time should do it. Give it another try and welcome aboard.

My oil cap gives me fits sometimes also. Occasionally it pops right off and other times it needs verbal encouragement.

Put some silicone grease on the rubber o-ring the next time that you have the cap off.

Or simply apply a drop of your engine oil to it.

I got it off. I thought it unscrewed all the way. Twist and pull. Out of frustration I yanked on it and it almost went over the car when it came loose.

Glad you finally got it removed.

Now by chance did you forget why you wanted it off?

I just purchased a 92 LT1 Coupe. Checking things out today and was unable to remove the oil filler cap from the valve cover. Turning clockwise had a ratcheting sound, turning counterclockwise no sound and same result. Any ideas????
