Default My new valve/coil covers

After looking at every option, I just was not happy with the valve cover and coil cover options out there. They were either too expensive, or didn't hide the coil wires, or required alternator removal, or had no provisions for coil relocation...you get the idea. So here's what I did....

I had CBM Motorsports send me a set of their C5/C6 coil covers. I got them unplated with no logos. Then I cut them where needed to clear my fuel system. Then, to give them a more finished look, I had some fab work and tig welding done on them...

Looking much better with the fab work...

Then, I got them powder coated in a texture black and mocked up some 'Corvette' scripting to add some interest...

Stainless letters installed...

Finished product...

It was a fun little project. And the best part is you can finish them any way you want to your liking or your particular engine theme.

That's how the LS1 should have looked like from the factory. Great job.

Where exactly are your coil packs? Bolted to the inside of the valve cover?

really nice job!

I'm just wondering why you though this was better than relocating the coils and just usung valve covers. kinda looks like the same results.

The coil packs are in their factory location using the factory mounts. No changes needed to the mounts or wires.

I didn't want the expense or inconvenience of mounting the coils inside the fenders. Moving the coils requires an extension harness, new coil mounts, and new plug wires.

Best "DIY" (sorta) project I've seen in awhile. Very nice!

you should have used a metal grinder to smooth the welds before you painted the piece, then it would have even better, nice job though!

I saw something similar to those on EBAY not long ago. Not a bad idea for someone who doesn't want to deal with moving the coils.

I know that EDELBROCK also has a similar product in cast aluminum, raised ribs and their name, in natural or black finish.

I would like to see a group buy on these

Seriously, a lot would buy them with the metalwork done and then each buyer could powdercoat how they want
