Default Performance Clutch

my car was on the dyno today and made 540 hp at the wheels. the clutch was sticking though. it as an OEM clutch.

is the clutch sticking because the clutch doesn't have enough grip to handle the torque or is it the slave cylinder?

if I get a new clutch, what's the biggest bang for the buck, OEM LS7 or LS9 clutch or aftermarket?

I'm surprised your clutch made it thru the dyno session.

What are you running? Big numbers

The answer would be based on your goals, expectations and use of your car. Any plans on power adders ?? Cars weight ?? Budget ??

BTW, what CI made that power ??

I am going to try the Mantic. I was going to do the RPS twin carbon but have read GREAT results with the Mantic.

I would not do an LS7 at that power level that is for sure.

I'm not planning on adding anymore power. I don't think the engine bottom end or drivetrain can handle much more anyway.

i don't run slicks, just Nitto NT05's, 295's so I don't know if the clutch will ever see full torque.

this is mostly a street car.

I don't want to spend more money than I need to, but I want it to work.

will I need to replace the flywheel too?

why are clutches given a power rating, I would have thought they would have a torque rating instead?

I did 3 passes on the drag track today. On the third pass, my clutch petal stuck on the floor.

My clutch probably did slip some, but the clutch sticking issue was a lot bigger deal.

I just removed the petal spring because I've read that will help resolve the sticking issue. I took a look at my clutch fluid and it's not clean. My next step will be to change out the fluid.

Did GM make any upgrades to the clutch's hydraulic system since 2000?

its the clutch master cylinder that is an issue too the one made by tick is a great piece, if your a drag racer I would look at the Mcleod RXT not the RST the mantic er2 from what i hear is a great piece, also the Monster level 3 is really good too. tickshift's website has a great deal for a whole kit for either the RXT or the Monster give it a look and im sure the guys at ECS could do a deal with you on the Mantic. Im in the same boat and can't pick a clutch but im close to it
