Default Strange squeak in driver front hub

I have an annoying squeak in my left front hub area. It is not the tire or wheel assembly as it will still squeak with the rim off and just hand turning the rotor. It sounds like a rubber to metal squeak. I blew out the back of the hub area with break clean and the squeak left....but only for a short while. Now it is back with a vengence.

Looking for suggestions

Since you say the tire is off and still making noise when manually turning the hub, sounds like the hub itself is done. If this is the case, all you can do is replace it. Tiemkin makes very high quality hubs and easily available from autozone.

Thanks, I will pull the rotor and then see if it still squeaks.

Any other ideas out there?

I had similar squeak, there are thin metal shims (for lack of better term) that fit on ends of each caliper that the brake pads fit into. When i changed front brakes I had one of the shims bent a little bit and it was hitting the rotor. Pulled the wheel off and tweaked it a little with a screw driver. No more squeak.
Maybe worth checking.

As things often go, I pulled the wheel again this morning ready to pull the rotor to see if it would still squeak........NO SQUEAK with the rotor still on. Perhaps it is heat related so I will check again after driving.

Hope your cat will mellow back out after the squeak is gone.

Well after a short drive the squeak returned. It really does not sound like a bad bearing more like rubber on rubber. I pulled the wheel and front brake assembly then cleaned behind the hub ans squirted in a generous amount of Super Lube and the squeak again went away. Reassembled the brakes and wheel.......time will tell.
