Fuse #2 pops when i put a bulb in engine compartment light?

Fuse #2 pops when i put a bulb in engine compartment light?
When i purchased my z06 it had no engine compartment light. In order to continue to have OCD, i needed to install a bulb and bulb cover.
When i installed the bulb it went on for 10 seconds or so and then went out. I found that fuse #2 popped. I replaced the fuse and the light went back on but then went out again. This time the fuse did not blow but the light still didn't work(glove compartment light also out which is on the same fuse).
It sounds like there might be a short somewhere? I'm thinking i'm going to just leave the bulb out unless any of you guys have ideas on some simple things to try.
