Want moar powaa!!! But which heads/cam setup?
The time has come to increase the hp/tq curve of my semi-racer 'vette!
I've done hours and hours of research, and still I'm confused as to where to go for good hp gains/reasonable prices/harmonious parts.
I want a heads/cam package that won't break the bank and will be compatible with my Kooks long tube headers. As she sits now, stock engine parts with tune and headers, the cam comes on about 3200rpm's and quits at around 6k rpm's. I want to keep that powerband, but up the horsies considerably, staying naturally aspirated.
So, what say you, CF brethren? What heads/cam package are you running and why?

What are the cam specs you have in there now? More compression will allow you to run a larger cam and maintain the power where you want it.
Stock intake and TB?

Toque, I'm running a stock LS1; I don't believe LS6 heads would fit? (exactly why I made this post, thanks!)

CNC'd LS6 (243) heads are a good cost effective option and will fit your LS1. I like the WCCH products personally. I ran a 230-236 112 cam in my 346 build and it was a great cam. With a 90/90 setup H/C setup I made a clean 460RWHP and it was super drivable.

Ported/Polished LS6 heads and a mid-high 220ish cam are a great combination. It will make good power and be very streetable.

N/A is hard on parts ALL THE TIME. I think a low boost set up would have been cheaper and more reliable, maybe better of fuel econ around town as well.
But everytime I crank her up and I hear that lopey idle, it makes it all worth it.

There's some truth to this, regarding lope. I installed a "blower" cam when I did my A&A kit, and I do miss the lope. I don't miss the unburnt fuel smell that's caused by overlap.(despite cats) I don't agree on the mileage thing, though. When I just had H/C/headers/CAI, the car was a beast until the stock clutch stopped the fun. Compression is your friend, so get the heads/cam that'll maximize your DCR. My SCR ended up at 11:1, and my DCR was 8.6:1, and with the stock LS6 manifold/TB, managed to increase my MPG by 2 over stock. I only get 92 Octane here, and I could have gone even higher, as my tuner got no knock retard, and there was no pinging at high ambient temps. As far as heads recommendation, I'd have to say my TFs, as done by TEA, were the biggest factor in my NA power gain.

Dropped a note to WHHC about my build. Looking at their Stage 2 LS6 heads with the recommended cam profile. Noticed they do take the old heads for a discount!
