Default What alloy is used?

What's the aluminum alloy used on the C5 windshield frame (extruded and cast corners)?

As I understand Tadge Juechter was the GM design engineer for this and the overall frame. You may try to get in touch with him, if you can. Here is a video of him discussing this design.

just guessing from what I know about aluminum....most all alloys that are not used in the wrinkle or crash zone are 6000 series alloys. If the part is bent, elongation within the grain structure as well as tesile properties of the metal must be right. I don't think a 6063 would be used in a windshield frame. I would suspect a 6005 or a 6082 version. 6082 has a slightly higer Mn content and can be bent without cracking. 6061 is not an alloy which would be used in anodizing. So... My best guess...6005 or 6005a simply because of its compatibility with the anodizing process. But what do I know about aluminum? Been making automotive alloys for 25 years....
