Steering Vibration
My 2002 z06 now has 950 miles on it.
Since it was new I have noticed a vibration in the steering wheel at higher speeds 70+ on certain roads. On some roads there is no vibration at all.
I had the car to the dealer and they road forced balanced all the wheels on a Hunter road force balance machine. They said that two of them were off 1/4 of an ounce and they corrected this. I still notice the vibration.
I am starting to think that maybe it is just the road grain comming through the 265's up front.
Thoughts?

Re: Steering Vibration (Argetni)
Hi there,
Just make sure that your pressures are at 30.
Higher pressures will transmit more vibration through to the wheel.

Re: Steering Vibration (c4c5specialist)
I've had similar problems with my 2001 Coupe. What seems to have finally fixed it was having the wheels balanced on the car. It seems odd, but all those fancy balancing machiines don't seem to work as well as simply spinning up the wheels on the front hubs (both fron and rears) and moving weights around until the vibration is minimized. It's pretty easy to feel the vibration by simply touching the fender, and the difference is immense. All I can say is that this non-scientific approach seems to have worked on my car.

Re: Steering Vibration (c4c5specialist)
Indeed the pressures were at 33(isn't that the EMT pressure?)...dumb dealer :)
I set them to 30 all around and the vibraiton is still there :mad
Guess another trip to the dealer is in order :(
Thanks for the tip c4c5...maybe I will have to bring the car up to CT for you to take a look...only 1.5 hour ride or so :)
