Default C5 Smart Fuse Skip Shift?

Hi all, I know the c6 is able to disable skip shift by using a blown smart fuse for fuse10 but does it work on the c5? If not, where can I buy the bypass for the best price?

I'm on the same mission right now myself too because I dont feel like paying $20 for a 2.2kohm resistor hidden inside a fancy harness. From my reseach I've concluded that you can either buy the harness or..... you can take a 2.2kohm resistor and connect it across the connector by the transmission so the resistor simulates the solenoid's load. I will go that route monday since I have my own radio sack at work for all electronic components.

To anyone wondering how it's done on a C5.

How to DIY

It is obviously not as simple as a C6, unfortunately.

I have one to sell if anyone wants it. I think one thing to consider is keeping water out of the connection. So not only do you need the electrical parts, you need some type of connector to seal it. The LG version I have two connectors on it and simply plugs in line. None of these remove the stupid dash light, you have to tune that out.

Sure, you can make one yourself, but I agree with Vettenuts, you then need to find a way to make it resistant to the environment and it is a harsh environment under there. So, if you buy a C5 skipshift harness, you are also getting a unit with the proper plugs, waterproofed electronics, and piece of mind for about 20 bucks. Just makes sense to me. You are paying for a plug and play product.

Thread is starting to get a little far from the OP's question, however Compliance Parts makes a skip-shift eliminator that doesn't install at the trans solenoid, but rather near the underhood fuse block. It also eliminates the dash light. About $25 IIRC.

or there's an auction site that i got mine from for like $12 shipped. then i gave it away when it got tuned out, so you might just try to find somebody who's tired of looking at theirs after a tune.
