Default Check engine light, no codes

Getting a constant check engine light, with no current codes. Erased all old codes and restarted. CE light, but no codes. Car runs fine. (I checked the gas cap.) Any thoughts?

Same thing happened to me this morning, 2002, auto trans, with 60,500 miles. Installed a new B&B PRT with x pipe yesterday, I drove 50 miles with this sweet exhaust yesterday with on problem. Now as of this morning, the check engine light is on full time? I also put new cold air intake on yesterday, runs great, all fluids are OK? Any thoughts?

Yes...did that...still no codes. My gut thinks its emissions control related, e.g., PCV valve, O2 sensor.

Are you using the dic to pull the codes? If you have a light you SHOULD have a code. The dic will usually see codes a hand held will miss.

Using the DIC to pull codes. May be an electrical gremlin. Fortunately, I have a good mechanic.

Maybe if I just ignore it, it will just go away. Hey, it worked! CE light went away, today.

I had the same problem with my '01. Check engine light would come & go for weeks. Like yours, no DIC codes. When I finally was able to get it to O'Reilly's with check engine light on, they got p0171 & p0714 -- fuel system lean bank 1 & 2. With help from forum members, I found the pcv connector on the side of my throttle body was cracked. Found a silicon spark plug boot with a little angle on it, trimmed it to fit, & installed it in place of the cracked pcv connector, & wa la, no more check engine light.

So, anyway, Might check your pcv line & see if yours is cracked, too.

Good luck.
