Default Need to Pin Crank if under 500 hp ?

Hada issue at track with my crank bolt coming loose think it was my bad not installing correct procedure .. going to get APR bolt and install was just wondering if there is a need to pin crank if not super charged and under 500 hp

The overwhelming response will be yes. You'll see. A loose balancer can damage the crank, the balancer and at the least throw your belts.

Mine spun making 415 to the ground. I pinned it when I went back in. I wasn't going back a 3rd time! I wasn't sure if my problem was power or procedure so I was extra cautious the second time in.

I would pin the crank even if our cars only had 200 HP. If you're in there it's just stupid to not pin it for cheap insurance.

Pinned mine when the stock balancer failed. Went back together with an ATI damper and their pin kit. Car only has 305whp up to this point. But even so, it was nice to know it would never be a problem. After the H/C swap, I will be glad its already taken care of.

VERY small price to pay while doing the same labor to remove/install a harmonic damper anyway regardless of HP.

No brainer.

Pin it for sure. You've already spun it so the crank snout and balancer hole will both have some damage meaning the friction fit is looser now and it will be more likely to spin again.
