Default Where can I get the differential bellville washers

Hello, I have a C5 Z06 (2001), and my differential was making a grinding noise. I noticed that it was leaking and lost all its oil. So I disassembled it and found that the bearings are still pretty good, and that the noise was probably coming from the clutch packs that were kinda rusted. I sanded them, and they actually look pretty good now, and don't need to be changed. However the bellville washers (or bellville springs, or spring washer, that is the say the washers shaped like a cone) are broken.

I couldn't find any online, so I was about to purchase new clutch packs when I realized that the bellville washers are not included.

I already asked on some forum where I could get those parts, and I have been told that I had to go to a Chevrolet dealer. So that's what I did, and when I showed them the parts and told them the name, where in the differential they were located, the answered "sorry, this part doesn't exist"!

Yep, don't know what to say when I hear something like that!

Does anybody know where I could get these parts?

Gene at GM Partshouse can get them for you.

Part number 89048116

$8.10 each.

While you're in there, you should replace the output shafts with C6Z shafts. Considerably stronger and a cheap upgrade.

I would use the C6 washers as they are much stronger than the C5 and about the same price. I broke an output shaft at the track and was able to drive home with the C6 washers and C5 clutches. Yes it was only 12 miles, and no starts on hills, but still a feat!

C6 washers are 19132817.

These are the ones I used. Purchased their heavy duty clutch pack along with them.

Here are TWO post that are EXCELLENT on installing replacement C6 parts in your C5 rear:

- C5, ragtopws6 , Upgrading your C5 rear with C6 Z06 guts, : http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...-z06-guts.html
-

- C5, Its_Go_Time, Output Shaft Install - Left and Right: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...post1573407966

- C5 Differential Seal replacement: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...on-photos.html

I replaced my clutches with the C6 clutches also and I ordered DTEs cross shaft as it is stronger.

Got all my GM parts from Gene Culley

Bill, have confidence in you knowledge and experience. What's your take on the washers. Common knowledge C5 washers break. Would you be comfortable with the C6 washers as a replacement for a hi-per diff? I know you bought GM through Culley but don't know the level of abuse your diff was built to take. Do you think all the aftermarket guys are selling the C6 washer as a higher performance piece or do some of the vendors actually have washers superior to the C6. Thanks in advance.

The C5 Diff washers are JUNK. They are found broken more then they are found whole.

The C6 Washers are better quality but probably not the best.

Many years ago, I spoke to I believe a DTE rep at parts booth at Bowling Green and he had better gears, better output shafts and better DTE Beliview washers. SO,,,, You will spend more cash with the DTE parts but they are some level better than stock. I dont believe DTE sells parts anymore.

I found these on line:

http://www.shop.hoosierpe.com/HD-Con...D-10112-DP.htm

Search Google and see what you come up with.

I put my diff to the test but only on the street. So far the stock C6 washers and clutches are holding their own very well.

RE-awakning old thread. SECOND diff is whining, after 5 years of track use, with a cooler from day one. Arrgghh! Can you repost the specialty items needed to rebuild the diff? all the shops are booked out till Nov, and I'd like to not spend 3K on a rebuild. thanks
