V12 in a C5/6
Was curious how much space is between the front pulley and radiator on a C5 or C6?
I am designing an adapter to install the Toyota 1GZ v12 to a Corvette torque tube/6 speed and install in the Porsche 928. The V12 is actually smaller/lighter than the Porsche V8. I may want to do this to a C5 myself...

Wow I wanna see this! I am guessing it is around 10 inches between the crank an the radiator, do remember the abs unit and the steering rack! Either way this would be kinda cool lookin!

Hmmm...the V12 is only 5 inches longer than the LS motor....
I already mated the Vette torque tube and trans to the 928 engine...it fixed all the Porsche trans problems.

The Mercedes 6.2 V12 Biturbo and Tranny from the 65 AMG would be a much better swap.

The rack goes right across the front of the damper with likely <1" of clearance. You'd have to relocate the rack or raise the engine if it's longer. You might be able to push the engine a little further back under the cowl if it's shorter/narrower then the LS1.

C5 and C6 do not have shock TOWERS as we have transvers leaf springs. The shock mounts are on the outside of the frame.

Unless you are stuck with that motor, wouldn't it be much simpler, lighter, cheaper, faster, better, to just use a built LS motor?
I almost forgot to add; more fuel efficient, compact, quieter.

"Because We Can" is Piranha Brothers motto. Even sticking Z06 6-pots on a Porsche and the purists cry foul. I like the LS engine I have a cammed LS1 in a 928 now. They are great motors and inexpensive to mod. I think my last swap had the most manufacturer's parts to ever conglomerate on a P-car lol. They were really stumped with the Lexus brakes and Mazda control arms, let alone the GM powerplant.
I guess i should have asked what is the widest distance between the top rails in a C5. I see a C5 with blown motor from time to time around OKC area.

Here's one for the Gurus.... Does anyone know what the FACTORY tech spec dimension is for the C5 torque tube input shaft centerline relation to the 2 dowel pin centerlines ?
