HIDs or nothing IMO. Plug n play led bulbs are not bright enough (yet) for the 880 style bulbs.

Really looking for just the looks of the led lights, the fog lights on these cars really aren't good for anything but looks

Put a 35W HID in your fog lights and you will be surprised.
The stock C5 fog light IS a projector.....

Default I replaced the 35w bulbs with 885 50w bulbs and can almost drive without headlights

Put 885s in both fog lights and reaimed them to about low beam level.
That was 5 or 6 years ago. Very much difference from the 35w 889 or 892 bulbs and does not melt anything. Try it. You might like it.

I've got the 55w bulbs in mine and yes a vast difference than stock but I'm looking for a replacement bulb that is led for the looks. I've all ready have hid projector headlights and it kinda looks funny with these old halogen bulbs in the fog lights

I had the so-called super bright LED fog lamps in mine and they are nowhere near as bright as stock. Definitely not worth it.

I now bought a set of Sylvania Silver Star 893's which are a vast improvement over the stock bulbs. These have the same wattage rating as the stock 899 but give off a whiter tint.

I totally understand what you are trying to accomplish. I installed the 880 led's from DDM Tuning ($7). As expected, they don't put out much light. BUT, they are a perfect color match for my 6000k ACA hids.

A friend of mine put in some good quality LED fog lights, and honestly they look more like running lights then fog lights. The pure color is nice looking, but not much usable light.

The HID kit from JW Motoring is $72. A pair of good CREE LED bulbs is about $30. I'd much rather spend the extra $40 and get actual useful fog lights.

I've been planning on getting 35 or 55W HIDs in the fogs for awhile. I think it would be nice to turn them on at dusk before it get really dark so I don't have to pop the headlights up.

So which type of bulb did you go with the LED's or the HID's?
I'm looking more for the looks then for Fog.

BIG-Hank...I am seriously thinking about replacing the stock 35W bulbs with the 50W (including upgrading the 10amp fuse to a 15amp), and I am wondering what effect if any this will have on the brightness of both the brake lights and tail lights when the driving lights are on.
Thanks for your reply.
