** Warning ** Watch out for a Active handling code C1282. Almost caused me go off the road at 140mph
I have had problems with the active handling system for a while. I get the 'Service Active Handling' message on the DIC (sets the C1282 code) when it happens the rear makes a little twist as it was breaking on one side but it has not caused any problems.
Today I was running hard on the highway going at 142mph (according to AutoTap log) the 'Service active handling' messages comes up and the car brakes HARD (by it self) on the right side only. Fortunately I was going in the left lane and was thrown over to the right lane before I got control of the car. There could have been a car in the right lane or I could have been in the right lane and gone off the road
Was'nt the active handling system built to prevent accidents .....
I was talking to Peter Sikkila @ DRM a couple of days ago about the problem and he mentioned that a customer had gone of the road because of this
The C1282 IS A VERY SERIOUS error code. Take my advice. Run with the Active Handling/Traction control system OFF until you have fixed the problem.
The C1282 is 'Yaw rate sensor bias circuit malfunction' The causes can be broken Yaw sensor, Broken ABS/Active handling unit or bad wiring.
Please watch out!!

what a freaky thing to happen... when you would least likely expect it to.
I hope it can be easily diagnosed and repaired right the first time.

Re: ** Warning **
From your description, I'd say you've been an accident waiting to happen. After once or twice getting the warnming message I think you should have believed it and got the system serviced? Driving 142 after getting those messages seems imprudent?

It's crazy that if yaw sensor is malfunctioning that the computer would still try to use active handling programming.
Sounds like a serious/lethal software bug. It should disable the AH if sensors malfunction. :nono:

Now I take it very seriously.
I never thought the system could go this crazy. It should have double or triple security systems to make sure this can't happen. I thought this kind of equipment needed to pass rigious security certification before released on the market. But as a stupid customer I believe the manufacturer then they say it's safe :U

Re: ** Warning ** (MelloYellow)
I figure the computer is a lot smarter than I am so when it says something is wrong, I believe it and get it fixed. Happily enough, I've never had a DIC code so this hasn't been a problem.
Your description is a scary situation though.

The code was not reset while driving. If the car is turned off and when on again the code remains if you look at the DIC but the Active handling system is on-line again as nothing was wrong!!
